Stata
Stata is a statistics package from Stata Corp. I have given introductory talks in Nijmegen (see Introducing Stata and elsewhere). Recently version 10 was released. Main improvement being a friendlier graphics interface.

- An exellent primer in programming from Kit baum.
- Stata can also be used for more exotic excercises. An example is to show data on geographic maps. See Friedrich Huebler’s post on this.

- For more advanced users there is the Stata Journal (SJ) which has articles for subscribers. It is the succesor of Stata Technical Bulletin (STB). It has a searchable index at Repec.
